1 RACE ORGANIZATION
Balkana Outdoor Association in cooperation with partners organizes the fifth edition of the Jahorina Ultra-Trail multi-race competition which will take place on 26-28 July, 2019. Special partner of the event is the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina while it is hosted by the Jahorina Olympic Center.
2 GENERAL INFORMATION
Jahorina Ultra-Trail is a multi-race competition that will take place on courses of various lengths. Both recreation enthusiasts and professional runners who achieve remarkable results in the field of trail running can participate. It is a two-day event designed to connect Jahorina with other parts of the country, to promote natural, cultural, historical and Olympic heritage. ULTRA: 101 km, with a variation in altitude of 4000 meters. The race starts on Jahorina mt, on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 00:00. Time limit: 29 hours. Awarded with 4 ITRA points.
MAXI: 69 km, with a variation in altitude of 2750 meters. The race starts on Jahorina mt, on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 06:00. Time limit: 21 hours. Awarded with 3 ITRA points.
MIDI: 38 km, with a variation in altitude of 2450 meters. The race starts in Sarajevo, on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 08:00. Time limit: 9 hours. Awarded with 2 ITRA points.
MINI Trail: 17 km, with a variation in altitude of 900 meters. The race starts on Jahorina mt, on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at 09:00. Time limit: 4 hours and 30 minutes. Awarded with 1 ITRA point.
The organizers will publish information on respective qualifiers for each race, as well as a full description of all courses with time limits at control points.
3 PARTICIPATON REQUIREMENTS
To participate in races, competitors should have had previous experience in the mountains. Depending on the course they choose, they must possess solid/excellent physical condition and suitable footwear and clothing in order to move along forest roads or dirt hiking trails, as well as special equipment for the races for which the organizer prescribes as mandatory.
4 REGISTRATIONS
Pre-registration starts on March 11th, 2019 and closes on March 31st, 2019. Should the maximum number of participants not be reached during the pre-registration, registration shall be opened on April 1st and shall close on July 7, 2019 or before, in case the maximum number of competitors is reached. Late registrations are from July 8th till July 28th, 2019. Applications should be made online. They are completed after the participant transfers the defined amount of the entry fee at the bank account of the organizer.

Categories
Participants will compete in the male and female competition. The MIDI Trail will also have an additional "Military/police” as a distinctive category. To register and participate in the "Military/police" group, contestants will have to state it in their online registration form, section “Team/Club” and prove their status with their official identification card.

Maximum number of participants Maximum number of participants is limited to 600:
Cancellation If the competitor wishes to cancel their registration, any cancellation must be notified by e-mail to info@jahorinatrail.com.
50% of the entry fee will be refunded if a cancellation is reported up to and including July 7th, 2019. Refunds will not be made if the application is canceled after July 7th, 2019. The organizer will provide a reimbursement refund no later than September, 30th, 2019. Registration fees can be used for the following race year instead of being refunded, if the competitor wishes to do so.
In case a participant wants to switch from a shorter race to a longer one, he/she needs to inform the organizer about the change via official email and pay the difference based on the price list applied on that day. In case he/she wants to switch from a longer race to a shorter one, it is necessary to inform the organizer about the change via official email. For this change, the organizer is not obliged to return the difference in prices.
In the case of extraordinary events, weather conditions, earthquakes, floods and extreme climatic phenomena in the period up to 15 days before the scheduled date of the race, the organizer reserves the right to refund 50% of the entry fee. This percentage is calculated to enable the organizer to cover part of the expenses incurred. Should the race be cancelled or interrupted for inclement weather reasons, or for any other reason beyond our control, no refund of the admission fee will be made.
Once the race bibs are picked up, participants may not exchange them with any others. The race number and race packet distribution will take place in Sarajevo on Thursday, July 25th, and on Jahorina on Friday, July 26th, 2019. The organizers will in timely manner inform participants about precise info center locations and times for race number and packet pick up via publication on the website, social network and e-mail. Both race numbers and packets will be given only on presentation of an identity document (or official identification card in the case of participants competing in the Military/Police category). It will not be possible to collect race numbers or race packets on Jahorina, on Saturday, July 27th, 2019 or in the start zone EXCEPT for the MINI Trail race, which starts and finishes on Jahorina (Rajska vrata), but only prior to 08:00 on Sunday, July 28th.
6 START OF RACE
Participants are required to arrive to the following locations according to the designated schedule:
ULTRA Trail participants shall gather at the start location on July 26th, 2019, no later than 23:30. There will be organized area for equipment that competitors may want to leave behind. The equipment will be waiting for them at the finish line after the end of the race. The organizer is responsible only for the equipment to be handed over to an accredited person, which should be packed in a bag with a matching race number. The race starts at 00:00.
MAXI Trail participants shall gather at the start location on July 27th, 2019, no later than 05:30. There will be organized area for equipment that competitors may want to leave behind. The equipment will be waiting for them at the finish line after the end of the race. The organizer is responsible only for the equipment to be handed over to an accredited person, which should be packed in a bag with a matching race number. The race starts at 06:00.
MIDI Trail participants who stated in their registration that they would need transfer to the start line shall gather at the parking lot close to the Ciljna kuća, on July 27th, 2019, no later than 06:00. From that point, organizers will transfer competitors to the start line in Sarajevo, Baščaršija. There will be organized area for the equipment that competitors may want to leave behind. The equipment will be waiting for them at the finish line after the end of the race. The organizer is responsible only for equipment to be handed over to an accredited person, which should be packed in a bag with a matching race number. The race starts at 08:00.
MINI Trail participants shall gather in front of the Ciljna kuća on Jahorina, the start and finish zone of the shortest race, on July 28th, 2019, no later than 08:30. There will be organized area for the equipment that competitors may want to leave. The equipment will be waiting for them at the finish line after the end of the race. The organizer is responsible only for equipment to be handed over to an accredited person, which should be packed in a bag with matching race number. Just before the race, the organizer will hold a technical meeting with participants. The race starts at 09:00.

On Friday, July 26th, 2019, at 19:00, the organizer will hold a technical briefing with the participants of MIDI, MAXI and ULTRATrail.
In the case of extraordinary events, weather conditions, earthquakes, floods and extreme climate phenomena, the organizer reserves the right to cancel the race or change the route. If there are any obstacles in which the trail can become impassable, alternative routes will be used as described at the technical meeting before the start of the race.
Competitors HAVE TO adhere strictly to the marked race route. In line with the rules of the race, with respect to the personal safety and the safety of other riders and race personnel, it is strictly forbidden to take shortcuts or cut out sections of the route. Any departure from the official route, apart from entailing disqualification, shall be at the sole risk of the competitor.
2 SAFETY AND CHECK POINTS
Each trail (MINI, MIDI, MAXI, ULTRA) will have its race coordinator. Members of the organizing team and the members of the Mountain Rescue Team will be positioned along the race route and will be in direct contact with the race coordinator. Medical personnel will also be placed on certain points along the course as well as at the start and finish line. Check points shall be set up along the route, where members of the staff shall monitor the competitors as they pass and also apply random checks to verify that the competitors are in possession of the obligatory race equipment. Should anyone refuse to undergo the check on the obligatory race supplies, they shall be disqualified immediately.
3 ENVIROMENTALPROTECTION
Races shall takes place mainly in the woods governed by forestry companies Romanija and Jahorina, all managed by the public company „Forests of Srpska“. Competitors are required to abide by the principle of the environmental protection and regulations which strictly prohibits and sanctions the unlawful action of man towards forests. As a reminder, the organizer notes that it is forbidden to throw away rubbish, to pick flowers or to disturb the wildlife in order to protect forests. In order to minimize the adverse impact of man on the environment, the organizer decided to perform the following measures to help preserve the natural environment where the race takes place:
4 WEATHER
The weather for this time of year is generally favorable. According to data from the Republic Hydro Meteorological Service, the average number of days with precipitation in July is 10 days, and in August 6-9. In most cases, there is the emergence of local showers, which are accompanied by thunder, heavy,short rainfall, and sometimes hail. The greatest risk and potential danger for this is in the summer months, especially in hilly and mountainous regions where local showers and thunder are intense due to the influence of orography. The minimum temperature in the early morning hours can be slightly below zero with altitude increasing.
In the case of extraordinary events, weather conditions, earthquakes, floods and extreme climate phenomena, the organizer reserves the right to suspend or cancel the race, even during the race, if the real circumstances present potential hazards for competitors. For the foregoing reasons, the organizer may change the route of the race, in which case, all competitors shall be informed in timely manner.
5 EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
It is obligatory for competitors to have the following equipment with them, for the full duration of the race on ULTRA, MAXI and MIDI trails:
The compulsory equipment may be worn or kept inside the backpack. The obligatory material shall be checked just before the race start. Random checks shall be made along the race route. MINI Trail race participants are not compelled to have space blankets or head lamps, but other equipment listed as mandatory also applies to them.
The organizer recommends the following equipment as well:
The use of poles is permitted. If the competitor decides to use them, he/she has to take care of them from the start to the finish line. The organizer will not take any equipment left by competitors at refreshment points or at any other location during the race.
6 DISQUALIFICATIONS
The competitor will be disqualified with withdrawal of their race number if:
The penalty will be applied immediately.
7 MAXIMUM TIME OF RACE COMPLETION
ULTRA: The time limit for the completion of the race is 29 hours, until 05:00 on Sunday, July 28th. There shall be four time limit check points. There will be organized transport to the finish line for participants who withdraw due to injury or pass with a delay at these points.
MAXI: The time limit for the completion of the race is 21 hours, until 03:00 on Sunday, July 28th. There shall be three time limit check points. There will be organized transport to the finish line for participants who withdraw due to injury or pass with a delay at these points.
MIDI: The time limit for the completion of the race is 9 hours, until 17:00 on Saturday, July 27th. There shall be two time limit check points. There will be organized transport to the finish line for participants who withdraw due to injury or pass with a delay at the point.
MINI: The time limit for the completion of the race is 4 hours and 30 minutes, until 13:30 on Sunday, July 28th. A “pick up” service will follow the last runner, in order to help these who injure or withdraw.
The organizer will provide information on each course segment and qualifying check point time limits.
Competitors that do not reach these check points within the time limits shall be stopped and will not be allowed to continue the race. In order to protect the health of the participants, medical staff at the check points has the authority to stop those runners who are judged unfit to continue the race. In this case, the participant must follow the indications of the member of the medical staff. Competitors who fail to do so will be immediately disqualified.
The organizer will secure the transport for those who decide to quit because of injury, for those who are judged by the medical staff to be unfit to continue the race, and those who reach the check points after the time limit. Transport to the finish area will be done according to the plan the race coordinator creates after enough people drop out from the race to fill the vehicle, unless the situation requires emergency transport. Any participant who drops out from the race at any point other than the established check points should make their own way to the following aid station/check point and from there will be transported.
8 REFRESHMENT POINTS
The competitors are required to run partially self-sufficiently and must carry at least one liter of liquid and some food. Because of the high temperatures characteristic for this time of year, it is recommended that you have some salt on hand or something for rehydration to reduce the risk of loss of fluid. Only the runners carrying a visible race number have access to the refreshment stations.
WATER on Refreshment stands will ONLY be dispensed in the cups / bottles / containers that competitors carry with them. Other refreshments will be available in the original packaging. There will be drinking water at other places along the trail.
Food is consumed within Refreshment points. There are shops on MIDI, MAXI and ULTRA trails where it will be possible to buy food and water, so it is recommended to bring some money.
Competitors are required to dispose of any GARBAGE that remains after the consumption of food and drink at the designated places within Refreshment points.
When leaving each refreshment station, athletes must have sufficient liquid and food to reach the next station. The final refreshment point for everybody is at the finish line and then the hot meal will be served near the finish area for Midi, Maxi, and Ultra participants.
9 RIGHT OF MULTIMEDIA CONTENT USE
Upon registration, the competitors authorize the organization to freely use digital records showing the competitor (photos, videos, etc.).
10 WAIVER OF RESPONSIBILITY
By registering, the participant exempts the organizers from any liability, whether civil or criminal, for damage to persons and/or property caused by or to him/her.
